Palm Trees in
the Snow (Spanish: Palmeras en la nieve) is a Spanish romantic drama film,
which is based on the novel on the same name by Luz Gabás.
Kilian, his
brother Jacobo and his father Antón, they are the Spanish colonialist who raise
cocoa. Kilian, in 1954, returns to the
island of Fernando Poó, where he was born. As the last, he joins to the island where
works his father and his brother.
The main plot,
talks about Kilian and his life, when he lives in Fernando Poó. First of all, the film talks about his interior
change during twenty years.
At first, after Kilian’s
arrival to the island he is very afraid and he doesn’t understand a lot of
elements of work. For him, the model in the behaviour is his brother, Jacobo. Later,
better that his brother, Kilian understands mentality of natives. He knows,
that Spanish colonialists mistreat natives and don’t have respect for women.
But Killian is different, he appreciates a different culture and he respects
other people.
Over time, he
falls in love with Bisila. They relationship is very difficult, because they
have to hide from other people. This relationship is forbidden because Basila has
a husband. They destiny is exaggerated. With political changes he must leaves
the island and he can’t never come back.
